Guest Experiences
The biggest compliment is coming back for a second time! We have been here seven years ago and it was just as wonderful as it was then. It is difficult to describe what makes this house so different from other houses on this and other websites, but after reflection, we must say that it feels like home.
Quiet neighbourhood and quiet location with enough small and large trips within half an hour drive. A complete and cosy house which is not primarily for rental purposes but for a family to use it themselves. I wish we had such a house ourselves.

Wonderful place to unwind. The house is equipped with all conveniences and a well-equipped kitchen to cook deliciously after a day of relaxation. Furnished with an eye for detail. We found the bathroom better than expected, often small, cramped, dirty and with lukewarm water. This was great. The whole look of the Gîte is authentic, but if you look further it is completely up to date.
The Facebook page and the own website of the gite provide more than enough starting points to explore the area and enjoy all the beauty that the surrounding cities have to offer.

We have had wonderful days with our children and grandchildren in Le Cochon Volant. The house is very cosy and is situated in a wonderfully quiet place in Burgundy. You have to love the peace and quiet since there is not much really in the neighbourhood: the bakery is about fifteen minutes drive from the house. We had beautiful weather and the house has a wonderful garden where young and old can relax. Recommendation for a short stay!

Wunderschönes Ferienhaus in wunderschöner Umgebung. Viele Möglichkeiten für Ausflüge in nächster Umgebung. Die Ausstattung ist sehr auf die Bedürfnisse von Familien ausgerichtet. Die Kinder liebten das Trampolin.

Our general impression: a beautifully kept house. Better than expected were the well-equipped kitchen and a very nice terrace. We would recommend the house to our friends!

What a nice place and what a lovely house !!! The past two weeks we have got to know the region a little better every day. In addition, we came to the conclusion that Le Cochon Volant is in a very beautiful and ideal place. The castle of Bazoches, the market in Clamecy and of course Cardo Land: all worthwhile. And of course all the villages in the region, one even more picturesque than the other.
In the house we especially enjoyed the beautiful, authentic decor. Beautiful floors, old lamps, attention to every detail. This made us feel extra welcome in this lovingly furnished house.
What was also very nice: a complete kitchen with all kitchen appliances.
The children played endlessly outside: looking for torrents, "adventure" in the barns and the backyard. And of course swimming and splashing in the cow-pool.
Thank you very much for your hospitality! (and the welcome basket with treats on arrival).

We always book a cottage for one week, and this is the first time that it really was too short and we do not want to leave yet. We especially enjoyed the lovely terrace, fire bowl and sitting in the evening sun. Thank you very much for the good tourist tips: we hiked, went with a canoe on the river Cure and we went for horse riding through the forest at the riding school in Montillot. The town of Vézelay was also definitely worth a visit. But the best was yet doing nothing here on the terrace and unwind! We will definitely recommend this home to our family and friends!

Had a great week at Le Cochon. Lots of peace and quiet! So we slept very well. There was good use of the trampoline and the games by the kids (4 yrs and 7 yrs). Also a nice 'football field' next to the large barn. And we had very nice weather so then life is also cheerful. A visit to Vézelay and Avallon in one day. Chateau de Bazoches was fun, also for the children. Cardoland was liked by the children, could still do for our 7 year old (we ourselves did not really like it ...). Swimming at the lake in Lormes. Perfect for the kids, nice beach and it's not super busy (many Dutch people because of the camping). The Friday market in Corbigny was also great! And what a nice BBQ and delicious kitchen! Nothing to complain, but enjoyed everything that Le Cochon and Burgundy have to offer.

We had a very nice week. Delicious food and seen a lot in the surrounding villages and towns. The BBQ was also very tasty, we often grilled fish. In short, a top holiday.

Gîte Le Cochon Volant has surprised us! We rent holidays homes for years now but never found "our" house to be so tastefully furnished and decorated.
Every day we discovered a new detail. We were lucky with one full week of sun and regularly spent time in the lovely garden.
The town of Vézelay was definitely worth the visit!
A boat rental to cruise on the Canal du Nivernais is not super spectacular but just a fun trip. Swimming in the lake to alternate our dips in the cow basin was also delicious. We enjoyed it very much!

We had two wonderful weeks here in Fin, which sometimes literally looked like the end of the world. Wonderfully quiet, devoid of (almost) everything. The Vézelay wine (white) tastes perfect with the crottins of the market in Clamecy. Occasionally we took the trouble to drive a bit further out; Auxerre, Nevers. Both are pretty nice cities but in the end the small local villages are still the 'winners'. So we often cocooned with local wine, cheeses and hams, and had a very enjoyable time in and around the house.

What a beautiful week in the Morvan! BBQ, fire bowl, fun outings, .. .The kids have amused themselves, the 'cows bath' has done its job! ;). With regret in our hearts we drive back to Antwerp, but we will cherish this week!

Perfect stay in your beautiful home! With 4 adults and 2 kids there was enough space and always a nice place to find - rain or shine! On the night of my 38th birthday we saw 8 shooting stars from the sun loungers in the garden. Using your house as base we went for our own house hunting in the region and today we left with at least 1 serious 'potential'. It was sometimes fire weather and sometimes BBQ weather so we got a lot out of the wood supply. Many thanks for that!

Nice house in a beautiful setting! The kids loved the tricycles, and scooters, completely awesome !! Often we held a tricycle race. The hammock and the big tub were also favorites. During the few rainy days we played a lot of games (Monopoly in French) and the DVDs were a godsend!
Trips we liked very much were:
- Pedal boats at Lac des Settons
- Grottes d'Arcy
- City of Avallon
- Vézelay: shopping street and church + view
- the lake in Lormes, also a good baker in the village
- Dinopark Cardoland

Really Fantastic!
Le Cochon Volant is a wonderful home as well as a holiday rental. Set in a small friendly traditional village, it is a beautiful, and sympathetically restored, spacious farmhouse which is a perfect fusion of traditional and modern architecture. It has everything (and more) that one would need, and is superbly furnished with old and new styling throughout. As well as the house being amazing we fell in love with the area too, so many things to do, see and explore. A week simply was just not long enough! We will definitely be going back. A huge thank you to the owners for making us so welcome and sharing their lovely idyllic home with us.

It was great, the Gîte is fully equipped. Living the life of a landowner. The beds were lovely. Better than expected were the many things and games where you can make use of. We would definitely recommend the house to our friends. Hopefully, we'll be back again. Thank you for a comfortable stay in your happy holiday home, in a beautiful part of the world.

We had a great holiday in The Cochon Volant! Beautiful weather, lots of sunflowers. Fun in the water at the river at Pierre-Perthuis, at Lormes and canoeing. Go see 'Le Sabotier' (wooden shoemaker) in Saint-Pere-sous-Vézelay. Saturday food market in Clamecy is a recommendation. And above all a
great house with lots of room. The kids loved the 'cow-bath'!

Super nice place. We had a great time. There was so much to do also for the children, really great! We love good food and drinks and the kitchen was fantastic. It has everything you need. A lot of flies though, perhaps that's why there were so many fly swatters :). Recommended for an outing is the castle of Bazoches, literally around the corner! We enjoyed it!
Thank you and au revoir.

It was our third stay in Le Cochon this autumn. I have a tendency of not going back to our travel destinations - so many amazing places to chose from … But Le Cochon is magic! It is actually not easy to put this experience into words - the house is immaculate and has so many charming, very chic and rustic design moments. You feel cared and trusted by owners who just let you into their treasured space. What we really like is that it’s settled within the very small group of other sweet little houses, so you feel part of the small community enjoying the unique top of the hill position.
The landscape outside is ever changing. We are either lucky or it is just a rule that even at the end of October you get glorious sunny weather there mixed perhaps with mystical foggy mornings or evenings or a bit of a windy day for a change …
Food must be at the heart of local people there -temptations in every village shop. The best chicken (yes chicken but nothing like the chicken we have) we ever cooked was from the local butcher, unobtainable wild mushrooms, the best pralines that haunt me when back at home and of course wine ….
My children feel very much at home there and I cannot stop writing this review because there are too many good things to say about Le Cochon and places that surround it. So authentically French and a real treasure of a holiday place.
Thank you so much for letting us share this experience.

Here we are again. Back since a few days. But miss your house already. What a very cool place and what a super cool house. Unbelievable how beautiful you made it. All very pleasant and very very tasteful. The kids were super happy with all the toys, the little cars in the shed
and the nice garden. Every night, they went to bed tired of playing and that is also very nice for mom and dad.
In the end, we haven't done much because a week is short and the house too pleasant and
the sun was shining cheerfully the first days. We drank a bit of wine and had good food; ). Yep, we ended up in St. Père and Vézelay, visited a castle and a good number of wine farms, but it was just too cosy in the house to be away for a long time. We will definitely come back again !!!
Thanks for everything,
